Cerity: Small Business Insurance Re-brand

When one of my old bosses approached me to come in as a freelance CD/Art Director, with the writer of my choice to help him re-brand his current company, I said absolutely. Cerity is a digital insurance company that targets small businesses. At the time, they were a start-up (smaller part of a large insurance company), but were ready to invest in their branding.

My partner and I were given a lot of freedom to develop a completely new brand identity for Cerity. We were even encouraged to be bold and to celebrate the importance of small businesses vs. large corporations. In the middle of a pandemic. We embraced it and decided to focus on celebrating small business owners as the incredible humans they are. After all, starting and running a business is one of the bravest things a human can do. It’s a bold, defiant act that deserves our admiration – and support. That’s why Cerity created insurance solutions small businesses need, without any of the traditional “shackles” they don’t. Cerity provides easy, flexible, freeing insurance designed to help business owners stay fearlessly focused on their goals.

After landing on a brand platform, we started creating ads and completely re-designing their website. We were responsible for creating the brand guidelines as we went. We helped Cerity have its best month every immediately after launching the new creative. They’ve been blowing away their sales goals ever since.
